Arrival and Orientation Services
Arrival and Orientation Services
Starting your journey at General Lee Aviation comes with a few important first steps. We’ve outlined everything you need to get started smoothly.
New Student Orientation
Our orientation is designed to help you adjust to life in flight training. You’ll be introduced to student support resources, learn about your rights and responsibilities, explore the campus, and start building connections with fellow students, instructors, and staff at General Lee Aviation. You’ll feel right at home from day one!
What to Expect During Orientation
Got questions? That’s exactly what orientation is for. During this time, you’ll discover what your program entails, meet fellow students and staff from General Lee Aviation, explore the campus layout, and get familiar with the key tools and services that will support your success.
Medical Requirements
We’ll verify that you have proper health insurance coverage and the necessary Transport Canada Aviation Medical Certificate for your course. If you don’t have it yet, we’ll point you in the right direction to get it.
Alberta Health Care Number
You’ll need to apply for an Alberta Health Care Number through the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). This can be done at any local registry office.
Books and Supplies
We’ll make sure you receive all the required materials, textbooks, and supplies you need for your flight training.
Transportation
We’ll help arrange transportation to and from the Edmonton Airport upon your arrival in Canada.
Campus Orientation
We’ll Walk you through the campus layout and show you where your classes will take place. We’ll also introduce any digital learning platforms relevant to your training.
Setting Up a Bank Account
We’ll recommend setting up a Canadian bank account for your convenience while studying here.
Tuition and Fees
We’ll review the tuition structure, payment deadlines, and refund policies with you so there are no surprises.
Immigration and Legal Documents
It’s important to make sure your key immigration documents are up to date. This includes your:
- Passport
- Study permit
Keep an eye on their expiration dates and plan for renewals in advance to avoid any disruptions to your stay in Canada. Most permits and documents will not be issued beyond your passport’s expiry.
If you plan to extend your study permit or switch to a post-graduation work permit, make sure you also update all related documents after receiving your new permit.
For help with your study permit or other immigration-related concerns, reach out to one of our international student advisors or visit IRCC online.
